Thursday, January 28, 2010 - On January 28, 2010 the Central Islip Fire Department was alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident in front of 729 Wilson Boulevard at 4:46 a.m.
Arriving units were faced with the reality of another fatal car accident. A single vehicle crash with 5 young people had rescue crews working to free them from their twisted car. Rescue 376 crews placed their Hurst tool into operation to free a young female from the rear of the car, then had the task of performing C.P.R. on her until Central Islip Hauppauge ambulance crews were on scene. All while this was taking place, other crews were securing the vehicle and tending to the other victims, one of which was ejected from the rear seats. Another victim was determined to have mortal injuries and was later pronounced dead. All victims were transported to area hospitals in serious condition. The female in trumatic arrest was later pronounced dead from her injuries in the accident.
It was later reported that the 19 year old driver of this vehicle was driving while intoxicated. The vehicle drove through the tree pictured then struck another tree.
All units were returned to service to ready their rigs for another call of service.
