Sunday, February 7, 2010 - The Central Islip Fire Department responded to a structure fire called in by one of its own members. Ex Chief Birsner, while on his way home noticied smoke coming from a neighbors house. He called dispatch rite away and informed them of a working fire with a possible occupant still inside. Ex Chief Birsner then made his way into the structure to evacuate the residents. Upon arrival of the Chiefs, they were notified of a attic fire. The first arriving Engine made an aggressive attack on the fire. The fire was contained to the Attic. Due to the quick response of the C.I.F.D. the residents house was saved. The department had a full response of Five Engines, Two Rescue Trucks and a Ladder Truck. The Islip Terrace Fire Dept. responded in for a F.A.S.T. team. Photos Courtesy of Charles A. Murphy
