The Central Islip Fire Department was alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident on the North Express Drive and Old Nichols Road in Islandia. After a short search for the scene, it was located in the Lakeland FD district in Ronkonkoma.

Chief Phil Falco, first on location reported a passenger vehicle had struck a safety truck protecting workers in a work zone on the road as they repaved the street. Central Islip Hauppauge Ambulance was on scene treating a female victim which sustained minor injuries.

Rescue 376 was directed to the scene to secure the vehicle, which had both airbags deployed and a small amount of fluids on the roadway.

All units were returned to service shortly after and EMS crews transported the driver to an area hospital for further treatment.
